Has advancing technology helped or hurt us?

Technology has changed for good or bad. I'm not a big fan of the new tech lets see what has changed.

50 years ago there was no Ipad Ipod or Iphone to make us fat over weight and lazy. we as a crounty don't wont rely on the storage of a computer we won't our brain. There isn't just storage on the computer and digital age, theres social media  An estimated 200 million children and youth around the world are being bullied by their peers, according to the 2007 Kandersteg Declaration Against Bullying in Children and Youth. These facts just go on and on the tides are turning for new zealand tech.

Is the book disappearing?

The book
An old fashion invention that has lasted for many years but it is at risk for the oncoming inventions

Is the book disappearing?
The book is disappearing because of all the tech coming in like the Ipad and the Ebook.

Advantages of a book:
  • Don't need to charge the book for it to work.
  • It's not expensive to buy.
  • If you drop it,  it's not as bad to replace.
Disadvantages of a book:
  • Easy to vandalise (draw in or rip out a page)

Books that are in danger:
  • Phone books
  • News Papers
  • Magazines
The Ebook

The Ebook is a next gen book, It is really lite and you can carry it around anywhere. The online download is easy as pie. However, the Ebook sales has dropped 90% in 2012.

"MUM! where are my favourite socks?" I asked yelling for help.
"And where are my Tuesday undies?" Asked dad searching through his drawers. "You know I have to wear them today."
"Just wear mondays undies no one is going to know," replied mum.
"No ones going to know you say, i'm going to know and to wear mondays undies pfft that would be idiotic," Dad answered back with a streak in his voice.

This was only the beginning of our family disaster, for the next few weeks things were starting to disappear and fast with dad losing his tuesday undies and me losing my favourite socks Isaac then lost his favourite bow tie, while mum then lost her favorite dress. We thought we were going mental "It's not like they could just hop up and run away," said Isaac.
Mum suggested that we recap our steps.
"When was the last time you had your items?" she said.
We all replied, "before washing day was the last time we had them."
"So maybe it's the washing machine thats caused all this drama," Mum said with a glimpse a hope in her eye's.

"Morning class," greeted Miss Green.
It was an ordinary day and everyone was sitting at their wooden desks, with pens and pencils by their side. The sweet sound of voices filling the room brought music to my ears I decide to listen in on Brittney's conversation with Ella OMG, last night I reached into my bag to get out my book and it wasn’t there, I explained Brittney
"No way!" replied Ella.
That exact thing happened to me, I was sure I put it into my bag. This is a little strange I thought to myself why are things disappearing?

Eventually the bell went and it was time to go home, I told my mum what I had witnessed at school and she was lost for words. That night I couldn't get Brittney and Ellas conversation out of my head. I grabbed my laptop out of my bag and went onto google, this mystery as I unzipped the case I looked down only to see that there was no laptop in my bag! This is insane I decided to look in my other pocket of my bag and to my surprise my lunch box was also missing.

The sun was shining birds singing it seemed like an ordinary day, I walked into my class that is usually full of colour but not today my class looked like a prison cell. what happened I gasped
"Don't worry kids," assured Miss Green "we have a thief in our class and I am going to get to the bottom of this one by one."
Miss Green started checking our bags everyone seemed relaxed except for James, miss green made her way down the line and James was last to be checked
"Oh said miss green looking rather lost, what is this?" she asked James as she pulled out two books a pencil case my laptop and two class posters from James's bag.

I was utterly shocked to say the least,
"I am so sorry," cried James "its just that everyone has laptops or books and our class is so colourful that I wanted to take some of it home to make my house look better." The truth is that you should be happy with what you have and not want stuff from other people.

It was a Monday morning, I just got woken up by my mum to get ready for school. I got out of bed and reached down for my uniform, but it wasn't there I looked under my bed under my pillows but I couldn't find my uniform anywhere.
" Kaidin, have you gotten in the shower yet?"
"No mum I cant find my uniform."
" Well you better find it quick or you will be going to school in your onesie!"
" But mum I cant find it anywhere it’s like its just disappeared."
"Oh sure just like all your other stuff huh Kaidin."

I got a note to go to school with to say that my uniform is lost and that I have to wear mufti just for today which was a pain because every teacher I walked past asked why i'm in mufti and where my uniform is, so I just showed them the note and moved on. When I got home I went to go grab my iPod from where I always put it, but I looked and that wasn't there either
I yelled out to my mum Mum, "Have you seen my iPod?"
"No but do you know where did you last put it?"
"Mum if I knew where I last put it do you think i'd be asking you where it is?"
"Sorry just trying to help," I thought to myself.
I'll try to find it later so I run into my room to go on my PS3, but surprise surprise it’s not there.
"Mum!"
"oh what now Kaidin i know you're up to mischief, tell me where all my stuff is Kaidin, do you really think I would hide your uniform away from you so you would go to school in your onesise Now what’s gone missing now?"
"My PS3 the whole thing, the controller is here but not my HDMI cable, power cord or my Elgato."

I really couldn't be bothered looking for all my stuff because it will take me hours, so I just thought of going for a bike ride. I walk outside to get my bike and I couldn't believe it my bike had no tyres! By this time i've had enough I went up to my mum
and said, "Mum  I know you’ve put all my stuff somewhere please can I have it back."
"Kaidin, I have hidden your stuff away would you like to get it back?"
"Yes where is it where is it?"
"Right here"
My mum led me to her bedroom, where my stuff was all scattered around the room My PS3 the power cord, the HDMI and my Elgato, my iPod was under her drawers and my bike tyres were under Liams bed, and my uniform was in my mums drawers. "Okay thanks mum for hiding my stuff."
"Thats okay ill do it again sometime hahaha"
"yeah right"

PEEL

My Mum is a fitness freak. Firstly, my mum is into a lot of sports, me and my mum got into triathlons and have been doing them ever since, we also do soccer, running, biking, swimming and this year Kiwi tag. Next to keep up with all of the sport we have to do training to get ready for the next triathlons, we do one swim a week and two  bikes a week and maybe a run. Thirdly we all try our best and we never give up when were in the middle of a race, in my first triathlon we were in 5km into the bike and I was about to stop for the day but there was a voice of my mum  telling me to not give up. So that makes my mum the a fitness freak of my family.

PEEL Practise

Rimu is the best house in TIS because we are  hard working. First we have a lot of unique features in our house, such as computers that we learn on every day we do our writing and sometimes reading but we keep to the books when it comes to math. Second, we have the best teachers in the whole school because they push us to the limits and help us to mature, last year one of our classes had a higher test average than the smart class in Totara. Also, we work as a team with every thing we do like picking up rubbish and helping each other. We won the last years environmental award for keeping our area clean. Lastly, in the 12 hour relay we will be all working really hard to foundries for cancer and our camp to add on new features and pay the bills. As a result we are the best house in the school.

Party policies

National

  • Families – Budget Families Package
I think that this is a good policy because its helping New zealand families have a brighter future, and help care for there little ones.
  • Racing
They Don't need 1 milline dollars and you can spend that on other things like education.

  • Roll out Ultra-Fast Broadband and faster broadband to all schools by 2016, providing access to the best teachers and resources anywhere in the world.
This will affect our internet because we are a multimedia class and we need fast internet for our work and education.

Labour
  • School donations

The education of our younger generation is important because without education theres no jobs.

  • Keeping blood alcohol limits low
I don't like this because people want to have a good time when there out and partying and there not braking the law so why should they stop drinking.

  • 10 year passports
This affects me because my pass port is only 3-4 years old so I don't wont to renew when you can clearly see that I am myself, over all I think that this policy is good.

Internet Mana

  • 100% renewable energy
This is using old energy and converting it to new energy, this will help all of New Zealand with our pollution problem.

  • Mass surveillance
They shouldn't be able to spy on what where doing every day (unless its illegal.)

  • Cheaper, universal Internet
This will affect my internet because my internet costs a lot of money and its still not that good.

The TPPA and will lead a campaign to stop it regardless of which parties are in the Government.

The Rebel

I have been in Argentina for 15 years and still getting the hang of the language around here, I am in the U.S army and fighting in the war between the U.S and the rebels. My wife and best mate jack came with me to Argentina but jack came with the navy so I don't get to see him much. I couldn't go home to visit my family because I lost my pass port running to the airport, I looked every where but I just couldn't find it. So I went home to sleep on how to get another passport when I was turning my key to go into my hotel I saw a man with the rebel patch on his right arm, I quickly ran into my apartment and garbed my gun and waited and waited for the bullets to come threw the door. I unlock the door and ran to the front of the elevator but I tripped and broke my leg, I couldn't get up and along came the rebel, Bang!

Story

I have been on the planet Pluto for over 5 million years, our once loved planet Earth was raided by the aliens of Uranus  so we were forced to move to the lonely planet Pluto. Only three of us had survived the attack, my mum Joe, and my best mate Derryn. The landing was rough and we damaged or main motor and our radar so we were flying blind, we had to leave the ship it was about to go under the ice. We walked about half a mile until we found a temporary shelter to stay and rest, we were looking for life on Pluto. We were walking and running low on food, I look down to my half ripped shoes and see a weird shadow it didn't look like mums or Derryn's we have a look behind us to make sure nothing following our footprints and trying to hunt us down and our mouths dropped, it was my dad. We all ran as fast as we could but I tripped over and fell to my face, I think that I broke my arm so I  stopped and screamed until dad was there to comfort me. I wake up in a hospital on pluto and see all of my friends surrounding me.
